Q # 14 - 30 Days of Insight

30 days of insight Apr 14, 2020

Back in the 1980's, there was a popular program for people interested in kicking their smoking habit and it was DISGUSTING - yet extremely effective.

One of my relatives used this approach and I remember seeing her gross mason jar full of old cigarettes and nasty water.

It sort of looked like this:

The main idea was to keep cigarette butts in a jar and smoke as much as you wanted. In other words, don't even try to quit!  Over time, SEEING the accumulation of nasty grossness was enough to flip a mental switch and stop smoking forever.  It actually worked for my relative and countless others.

Now, let's apply this same concept to your MIND.

What are you allowing into your mind right now? If you could bottle it all up, how would it look?  More importantly, how does it make you feel?

Is your current mental diet full of daily Coronavirus news, fearful messages, reactive friends, or emails from merchants referencing "these difficult times", etc?

Be AWARE of what you allow into your mind right now (and always) because it can be as toxic as smoking.

Let me say it another way......

If someone blew nasty smoke in your face, would you stand there and allow it?  Or, would you set a boundary?

You can also set boundaries around thoughts.  Keep that in mind.

ps.  you can still get daily Covid-19 updates without 'chain smoking' Corona news for hours.

JOURNAL PROMPT

What are you allowing into your mind and how does it make you feel?  How can you clean up your mental diet so it's more nourishing?
