STORY:
HOW TO STRETCH YOUR COACHING DOLLARS
Meet Yvette Quantz,
Registered Dietitian, Owner of Food Therapy and Customized Nutrition Newsletters
Q: How did you hear about coaching and why did you hire Kristin to be your coach?
A: I heard about Kristin through her sister who is a client of mine. I thought the work Kristin did was very interesting and her approach seemed very genuine and real. I signed up to receive her daily mantras and about 4 months later I decided I needed coaching!
Initially I hired Kristin because I wanted some help and direction with my business. However, in retrospect I hired Kristin to be my life coach for so many other reasons. First, I was in a serious time of transition in my life. I had so many things I wanted to do and there was so much to be grateful andhappy about, but something was holding me back and I was not enjoying my life. Looking back I was very stressed out and I was not fun or myself. Just about one year ago today, I decided to train for my first marathon and hire Kristin as my personal life coach... those were the 2 best decisons I could have made for me, my family, and my career.
Q: What are the
tangible results of your coaching experience?
A: I work for myself! When I started with Kristin technically I did work for myself, however other people were controlling my path. I now do work for myself and make all my own decisions. My husband and I have also started a business together, Customized Nutrition Newsletters. Something I have had a vision for over the past 3 years but needed the right "partner".
Q: What are the
intangible results of your coaching experience?
A: I am at peace. I do not wake up with anxiety about "what am I supposed to be doing!" I do not obsess about my work all the time. I laugh at and with my 3 year old a whole lot more. I run a successful business, Food Therapy, and when things are slow I do not stress. I know and understand there is a time and place for everything. I found my way back to my spirituality, something I had lost but did not even realize. I am a whole lot happier and genuinely laugh a whole lot more.
Just last week at a girl's night a friend told me "I have seen such a shift in you over the past year, it has been awesome!" That comment in a way made me sad because I realize now a year ago I was stressed out and consumed with my work, but happy that people have seen a shift and have not given up on me :).
Q: What are Kristin's strengths as a coach?
A: Honesty. She told me things I "knew" but did not want to hear. Also, she called me out like no other person who wanted me to succeed (family and friends) would. In some areas of my life the advice she gave was similar to what family and friends would say, HOWEVER if I did not ACT on making a change... she called me out and would not let me get away with it. She made me step out of my comfort zone and do the things I was scared to do.
Q: What was memorable or meaningful about your coaching experience? Would you change anything?
A: My most memorable coaching experience was during a phone consult when she taught me the concept of learning to "respond" and not "react" to a situation. That was one powerful session!
Q: Do you feel your coaching dollars were worth it? Why or why not?
A: Absolutely! The year I spent with Kristin was the best thing I could have done for myself, my family, and my career. I originally signed up to grow my business and while this was our main focus, I was also inspired, motivated, pushed and challenged to think of other areas that needed improvement. One year later I am at so much more peace and happiness in every area of my life. Thank you Kristin!
Coach's
Comments
I wanted to share Yvette's story with you as an example of what can be achieved with a hybrid of my coaching programs. Yvette was a client in my email based program called "Inner Circle". The core of that program involves sending me a weekly update of goals, progress, focus areas, challenges, etc. My job is to read the update and comment back. In doing so, a few growth areas became clear and I started to share those with Yvette. One of those growth areas, as Yvette mentioned above, was learning to not 'react' whenever something went awry in her business. I know many of us can identify with that!
Even though Yvette appeared very calm on the surface, it was clear to me she wasn't fully comfortable in her business and something needed to change. In my opinion, Yvette simply needed to realize SHE was in charge of her business and could set it up any way she wanted. So, that's exactly what she did. One new offering we created, for example, was a group program for her nutrition clients. This diversified her business model and enabled Yvette to generate more revenue with less effort. Yippee! Most importantly, Yvette was having FUN at work and enjoying more balance with her family.
With weekly email coaching and a handful of phone sessions sprinkled in, Yvette was able to stretch her coaching dollars and steadily grow while making changes over a year-long period. If you're curious about her company, I encourage you to check it out at FoodTherapyOnline.com. She has a true gift and solid level of expertise in the world of nutrition and health.
